Safari Stays: A South Downs Adventure

In partnership with our great friends at The Welldiggers Arms near Petworth and The White Horse in Chilgrove, we’re bringing you a three-night stay from £160 per person.
During your South Downs Adventure you can relax, dine and drink and take in the spectacular views of ‘The Downs’ at The Welldiggers Arms, enjoy sleepy village life here in East Lavant at The Royal Oak and explore the wild countryside at The White Horse near Chilgrove.
Your safari stay will include:

– Available to book for stay until 31st March, excluding Christmas holidays, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day and Bank Holidays
Your four-legged companions are welcome to join you on this adventure to the South Downs for an additional £15 per dog, per property.

Here is an example itinerary we’ve made for you to see just some of the joys of the South Downs and the things you can expect to see and do during your Safari Stay.
Day 1: Arrive at Petworth
Inspired by the Baroque palaces of Europe and nestled in the South Downs, Petworth House displays one of the finest art collections in the care of the National Trust. Explore the 700-acre historic park at Petworth, wander in the footsteps of artists, encounter our majestic herd of deer and sweep away the cobwebs with our walking trails through a landscape designed by ‘Capability’ Brow.
Day 2: Petworth > Chilgrove
Discover the South Downs National Park, including its vineyards, historic villages, varied wildlife and landscapes that have influenced hundred’s of writers & artists, all from its famous walkway, the South Downs Way. Explore the 100-mile trail using their website, here.
Day 3: Chilgrove > East Lavant
Local cathedral city, Chichester is filled with arts & culture, history, heritage & gardens, restaurants, bars, shops, galleries, a fantastic theatre and a nearby beach.
